Before
After
Herman Miller replaced 400 fixtures (200 in each building) with the Semaphore 54. Each new fixture reduced HMI’s lighting energy cost by $70.69 per year for a total cost savings of $28,276 per year. Light levels increased by an average of 21%.
Challenge:
To reduce Herman Miller's lighting energy consumption while maintaining or increasing current light levels throughout Buildings A & D.
Solution:
The replacement of existing 400w Metal Halide fixtures with Light's Semaphore 54 Series. The 4 Lamp T5 fixture features an aluminum exoskeleton form-factor, designed for its clean aesthetics and lightweight manageability. The exoskeleton surrounds a modular specular reflector system specifically designed and engineered for even and focused light dispersion. Rounding out the fixture is Light's Slip-Fit hanging system which allows for ease of installation in one-third of the time necessary to hang standard fluorescent or high-intensity discharge fixtures. The Semaphore 54 has a system wattage of 246w versus 458w for the standard 400w Metal Halide.
Customer Feedback:
"Our goal is to balance our core competencies in energy conservation while at the same time insuring that our associates have the best possible working conditionsin which to do their jobs. We won't make trades in one area at the cost of the other. Light's Semaphore 54 was a good solution for what we wanted to achieve."
