Spartan Store’s new energy-efficient Semaphore T8 fixtures radically reduced the initial energy consumption of their warehouse with higher output per watt specifications. By toggling fixtures on and off depending upon foot traffic with occupancy sensors and use of the new Kanepi system that allows the facility to control when and where to use their lights, came tremendous energy savings. Light levels were increased 100%, removing the “cave-like” condition the warehouse had previously suffered from.
Challenge:
To reduce the overall energy consumption of the facilites while increasing light levels. In Grand Rapids, Spartan Stores have a warehouse that has 750,000 square feet and another having 250,000.
Solution:
Utilizing Light Corporation's Semaphore Technology, Spartan Stores chose to use the 4 and 6 Lamp T8 fixtures for this project. The Semaphore 84 and 86 feature a modular specular reflector specifically designed and engineered for even and focused light dispersion. Paired with a Kanepi Wireless Control System and an occupancy sensor, which allows for the fixture to turn on or off depending upon foot traffic within the zone, creating the perfect application for a warehouse environment.
Customer Feedback:
“It was tested under a live scenario, and it gave us a high level of confidence that we weren’t going to have issues in the field. We focused in on the lighting to begin with, but I think because of the flexibility, we’ll be looking at other applications and saying ‘Hey, look, we could do this or we could do that.’ We’re very confident that we have a system that’s going to do everything we want and then some. We think we’re on the cutting edge.”
