Challenge

To create a cleaner, brighter, and livelier atmosphere for the gymnasium at West Holland Middle School.
Solution

The replacement of existing T8 fluorescent fixtures with a derivative of Light's Semaphore 86 Series. Light Corporation and Parkway Electric designed these fixtures specifically for Holland Public Schools. The 6 lamp T8 fixture features an aluminum exoskeleton form-factor, designed for its clean aesthetics and lightweight manageability. The exoskeleton surrounds a modular specular reflector system specifically designed and engineered for even and focused light dispersion. Rounding out the fixture is Light's Slip-Fit hanging system which allows for ease of installation in one-third of the time necessary to hang standard fluorescent or high-intensity discharge fixtures. The Semaphore 86 has a system wattage of 224 watts.
Results

Increased light levels in the gymnasium by 42% without increasing energy consumption.
Customer feedback

"The kids just seem to have more energy in the gym now. I believe the new lights are the reason for this. They are so much brighter than the old ones."
Trish Fodor, Physical Education Teacher, West Holland Middle School.
