Lighting manufacturer acquires accessories brand – Grand Rapids Business Journal

A maker of lighting solutions in the region has acquired a West Coast “lifestyle and functional accessory” brand.

Grand Haven-based LightCorp said Jan. 27 it has acquired Stockton, California-based Most Modest.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition is part of LightCorp’s new strategic vision to create “holistically connected commercial and residential environments through interior power distribution, lighting and functional accessories,” according to Marc Langeland, president, LightCorp.

“LightCorp’s acquisition of Most Modest provides a major growth opportunity to cross over from the contract office environment into residential and direct-to-consumer markets with lighting and technology solutions,” Langeland said.

Most Modest Founder Justin Champaign will continue to design for the Most Modest brand and support LightCorp with new product opportunities.

He said the two companies “perfectly” complement one another.

“LightCorp’s domestic manufacturing of electronics and fixtures combined with (its) unique ability to support high customization pairs perfectly with the Most Modest brand and provides designers with a distinct advantage when bringing products to market,” he said.

LightCorp

Founded in 1986, LightCorp manufactures lighting solutions for top-tier original equipment (OEM) customers in the contract office industry.

In 2018, LightCorp also became the stateside manufacturer for the European architectural lighting company Modular Lighting Instruments.

Most Modest

Established in 2013, Most Modest specializes in designing “craft-inspired technology goods” such as power, lighting and tabletop solutions; wall hooks and décor; and planters and furniture.

The brand has partnerships with retailers such as Urban Outfitters and Design Within Reach, which feature Most Modest products in their portfolios.
